Overclcocking cpu

Hi, I am new to overclocking, and was wonder if there is a detailed guide that I should follow. Any help is greatly appreciated. :cool:

Specs:
Case: corsair 750 D
psu: corsair hx850
mb: asus sabertooth z97 mark 1
cpu: i7-4790k
gpu: evga gtx 980 sc
ram: kingston g-skill 8gb
cpu cooler corsair h100i

If you'd like and have some time I can help you overclock your cpu. Did you have a set overclock in mind?

ty, and no I don't have anything in mind. I would just like a moderate overclock, I am not worried about pushing it to its limits

All right

I will start by saying temperature controls how far you can overclock your cpu. I see you have the corsair h100i cpu cooler which is a great cooler.

Download these three programs: ROG Realbench, Real temp 3.70 and cpu-z. When you get these installed post back here and we will begin overclocking your cpu. Sound good?

Could you please use ROG realbench? It is much easier on your cpu and does not run it near as hot when stress testing. It is a great program, it's what I use. You will get the most out of overclocking your cpu using realbench.
