Need some advise on new hard drive

Hey,

I'd like to buy myself a new primary hard disk drive/ solid state drive.
I use the drive only for the operating system and all programs like Firefox and Office.
Games are on other drives.
My current hdd has got 124gb, and the space is getting smaller fast.
My budget is €75,- wich is about $90,-.
Can you guys give me some advice on what is important to know and what is faster.
I thought about the WD VelociRaptor (of 250gb) or maybe an SSD, what is better or am i missing something?

Samsung SSD for sure if you can afford, You can use their easy transfer to swap your OS to the SSD and keep your program files on the HDD, you will notice a huge difference.

Think i'm going for the samsung but a 250gb one, current hdd is quite loud and makes a very annoying noise.
Time to get rid of him 🙂

What annoys me to is every time during the boot, it asks if i want Vista or 7, Vista doesn't even work.
Can annyone tell me how to force booting up with Windows 7?

To select your standard OS go to configuration/system/advanced system settings/startup. You can select it there.
If you want to remove the Vista option so you won't see the options anymore during boot you have to go to systemconfig/startup, there you can delete the Vista OS option you see during boot.

I agree with the choice of Samsungs 840 EVO. I used to have a crucial M4 1.8" but now i have the Samsung and it's performance was suprisingly good and its good for my wallet aswell. Cheers

I would look at 250GB samsung evo, or if on a budget, MX100 256GB, cheaper and slightly bigger capacity, my 2 cents.

I stand behind Intel SSD's but Samsung is also top 3 so you have good suggestions here and the EVO would also be my recommendation for you.
