Need Help: Problems with boot/no signal V2

Hello there!

I made a post roughly a month ago about a problem with my rig.

My build:
Motherboard : ASUS RAMPAGE IV EXTREME, Socket-2011 / Gigabyte G1.Assassin2, Socket-2011
CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K
GPU: Matrix HD7970 Platinum 3GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000MHz 12GB
CPU cooler: Corsair H80i Hydro Series
PSU: Corsair AX1200i - 1200W Platinum

My explanation from my previous post:

My current problem: My computer does not send a signal to my monitor, all it says is "No Signal Detected". The CPU-led is showing red on the motherboard. The thing is that this build is three months old, and I have experienced problems for quite some time. My computer used to randomly shut down whenever it came under load. For example it would just shut down without warning when I was on a bossfight in WoW, sometimes it would do it when I simply copied files on my HDD as well. At first I had a Gigabyte G1.ASSASSIN.2 mobo and a 760W psu. After upgrading those to my current build I thought it would fix the problem, it did not. Changing to another gpu fixed my problems for a while, but I know that my current gpu is not faulty and is working fine with other builds.

So, yes, I've had many problems with this build, but my current one is that I can't get a signal on my monitor, which makes it hard to troubleshoot.

Things I have already tried:
Reseating everything.
Reseating RAM, trying to boot with just one slot filled.
Loosening the cooling a bit.
Checked for bent pins on both motherboards.
Tested GPU on other builds.
Reseating the bios battery on both mobo's.
Switching Bios/resetting it manually on the IV Extreme.

When I first made this post, I got the advice to RMA my CPU because of the ''00'' error code the display on the Rampage Extreme was giving me. So I did that, and they sent it back after testing it for two weeks saying it was perfectly fine. The included graphs and such for the various tests they had performed. Anywas, I still have the same problem.

BUT - I have narrowed it down to something you guys might be able to help me with. On one of my many attempts, I got a display on my screen. The message read ''The system has experienced boot failures because of overclocking or changes in voltage'' and it gave me the option to load optimized defaults and then reboot. So, I did. After that I didn't stand any chance at getting a display again, I don't know what happened. I tried all the PCI slots with the 7970 Matrix Platinum card without any luck, I am pretty sure that it does not even boot up since it turns off immediately when I press the power button, instead of the usual few second wait. NOTE: THIS IS WHILE USING THE GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD.

By this point, I was fairly certain that it was the graphics card, something I never thought it would be since it had worked before, and I had two samples of the same card and seriously doubted that there was something wrong with the both of them. I borrowed an older GPU from my brother and seated it in the motherboard. It instantly gave me a display, and I was able to boot for the first time in a month. I have now reformated the computer and installed every driver that I could possibly need to run the 7970, but I still get no display when I try to seat either of them.

My question is: Do you guys have any idea what might be causing this? Of what might be wrong with the cards or my setup? Is there a setting or something in the bios that I might have overlooked? The BIOS version on the Gigabyte motherboard is F9 by the way,.

Thanks in advance for your reply, and I apolagize for the lengthy post.

All I can think of is that you may need to manually select the PCIe to gen2 on your system if you have not done so. Certainly something is not right.

I have had many HD7970 cards and never once had that kind of issue, if as you say it is not the CPU and I would be inclined to want to see the testing that Intel did and confirm they did a PCIe controller test.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I've been recently testing my Matrix cards before listed them on ebay and did experienced a similar thing... one of the cards was mounted on the RIVE and did a BIOS reset (not because of the graphics, but CPU and RAM OCs got my system unstable) - and got the no video output thing...

I knew that it is some BIOS setting, so started to look there... and I found the CSM settings... not sure if on the Gigabyte you have something similar, but on the RIVE you should try changing that...
