My Asus motherboard and G.Skill ram support XMP

You can see the pc specs in my profile. Should I feel comfortable using the XMP option in bios? Advice? The system came assembled but had a one bad ram stick out of two. Fixed now. Passes memtest86 at standard speed. Point me in the direction of more info.

Thanks*

Yes, go ahead attempt a simple XMP DDR4 overclock with your Gskill mem kit - it's pretty simple. 🙂

As long as your hardware is all functioning properly...

Enabled it, retesting memory now. Looks like its going to pass. 🙂

Woohoo! You may also be able to overclock your mem kit a little bit.

From your XMP profile try experimenting with Mhz and CL and dram volts. Once you arrive at your few favorite profiles try tightening the OTHER PRIMARY timings "as low as you can stable". 😄

I have an older (from 2016) 3200Mhz 14CL Gskill b-die kit that will run 4300Mhz 17 18 18 28 stable, but that's with an ROG Apex X board.

Gonna sell that kit on ebay! Got too many RAM kits hanging around. lol 🙂

Yeah this is working out fine. I am not in a hurry to do more, but I probably will as long as temps/stabiity allow. This thing is all air cooled, excellent case and fans seem sufficient. I wish I could see dram temp but that is not included on this board. Thank you for the tips.

HWMonitor software will tell you DIMM module thermals. And it's FREE! : )

There's no mem kit temp sensor on your ASUS mobo?

It appears not. Not that software is recognizing. Probably a limit of the Prime series boards. Cool monitoring software.

Not all modules have the thermal probes depending on the memory IC
