Maximus X and LLC

Hello everyone!
Recently I slightly overclocked my 8700k on the Maximus X using Raja’s Guide which works perfectly fine. I reached 4.7 Ghz with 1.84V and max temps of 71°C after 1-hour prime95.

What isn’t mentioned in the guide is the use of LLC. I’m using a quite moderate setting of LLC4 (so the adaptive voltage is set to 1.24 and the voltage under load Drops to 1.84). That means there is still a nice Vdroop as a „safety feature“.
With these settings and temps in mind, would you suggest going for higher voltages and frequency for a nice 24/7 oc, or just leave it as it is? Also, would you adjust the LLC?
Thank you for any tips! 🙂

Nah waste of money since the 9900k is out and 9900ks is on the way
Would be a waste. Thanks though . 8700k and 8086k are a bottle neck in a few games . Waiting for the 9900ks

Perhaps .....but what games might those be? I suspect those games might be better suited with hi core count so why wait and just get the new AMD.

While I certainly can't recommend the 8086 anymore -due to availability- I can tell you with the games I play it will stuff a 1080ti (and probably the 2080Ti) at 1440P.

Anyway, my post was pointed at the four 8700Ks you bought.

ahhh sorry mis read what you were trying to get across ( 4 months quit smoking )

yeah 3 8700ks early launch till i got a good one then 4 months later the 8086k came out .

what does your 8086 k require @ 5 ghz all core no avx offset to pass prime 95 36.6 small ffts ?

Hi Bass-
Congrats on the 4 months.

I don't do Prime, sorry, but can share my multi thread ycruncher:
52/50 - 2.5B - max volt 1.472 / 6 cores no HT
50/46- 2.5B - max volt 1.32 / 6 cores no HT

My bios : ALL cores locked at same speed; LLC 6, and I never use an AVX offset ...the memory settings are the 4133 c17 listed in the ADIA graphic posed earlier

nice man , and thanks 🙂 nic gum comes in handy hehe i have been eyeing up the trident z rgb 16 gb 4000 mhz cl-17-17-17-37 kit and was hoping for 4000 cl-15 out of it and hope for say 39 ns latency or should i go for 16gb trident z non rgb 3600 cl-15 what would be the best set ?

would it be worth it ? im already @ 4000 cl-17-19-19-39 tuned up scores on adia 64 on the first page

Well, i have my limit: 4133 c16-16 is only benchmark stable; c16-17 is stable but requires 1.46v dram. With 4133 c17-17 I pretty much get the same performance as 4133 c16-17 but with 1.40v ....so, less the 1/2 ns AIDA latency score , there is no meaningful reason for me not to use 4133 c17-17 for my standard config.

...Yeah, I'm familiar with the gum .....it works.

asus real bench 8 hr pass
non stop loop of cinebench r 20 for 6 hrs
hci mem test 3000 % coverage

battleifled 1 and bf 5 no fps lock
