Hello,

I am using i7 4790k and maximus VII hero z97. I was using my cpu always at 4.4 ghz. I dont why but it was never changing. I tried to fix by myself and its 4300 now lol. Can you help me for it please? how can i make it lower when not necessary. Also tomorrow my matrix gtx 980 is coming and will add it to my build. I have noctua nt-h1. must i use it on this card? And must i OC the system for this gtx 980? i dont have extra cooler for cpu, im using the stock fan.

Hello boogiee90

You don't need to reapply TIM on a new card. Just plug it into the correct PCIE slot on you MB, straight out of the box.

Extra cooling for the CPU would be needed if you wish to OC beyond the capacity of the stock cooler.

First check your power plan in Windows, as default will usually throttle the CPU at idle, unless you tell it not to.

To determine this, run a game or intensive application whilst monitoring with CPUz and you should see core speed changing to match demand. This is basically a power saving feature. You can easily change these values to have your cores at 100%.
