Maximus VI Gene sata port problem.

Hi everyone, im having quite the problem with my pc.

My build:

Intel i.7 4770k
2x8gb ram.
hdd 1tb WD10EXEZ.
2x evga gtx 770
mother maximus vi gene.

I used to have a ssd, but unfortunately it was defective.

The thing is that i used to have my windows, on the ssd, so now i lost my old windows, and i'm trying to install a new windows7 on the HDD.

note: Im doing the instalation from a usb stick.

The windows setup launchs normaly, i have to choose the disk i want to install (shows my disk as Disk 0 Partition 1)
but it will show this message:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu"

The controller shows as AHCI.

I go to the bios sata advance config, and it will show empty in every sata port item.

In the booting order options it wont show up, but it will show on the "Hard drive bbs priorities".

Is it possible that a virus messed up my sata drivers and i should update them? If so, how can i do it from a usb stick.

I dont think the mother is defective as i being using it during 4 months and never had a problem, until now.

I have tried lots of things already but failed to install the windows...

Hello

Delete everything on the hard drive so it is in a raw state.

The drive is already on raw state, and i have tried the hdd in every sata port.

I will try the ssd on another computer via usb, and i will tell you if i find anything.
Any other ideas?

Greetings,

Did you have other SATA drives plugged into the motherboard? If yes, make sure to unplug everything except the boot drive and then try the installation. This should resolve your issue.

When installing OS it is best to have no other hard drives fitted.

Use only the Intel 6G SATA ports.

Clear CMOS and boot with your USB drive with the OS (how did you set that up by the way?) fitted.

Since the SSD is bland the board will default look for the install partition on the USB drive.

Do not try and format when you get to the advanced section simple do as Praz suggested and let the OS install process do its thing.

Ok,i cleared the CMOS, now windows will let me install into the device, this problem is solved, but after 20% it will stop expanding files and a error message
will pop up on the screen:

"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Eror code: 0x80070570". Tried installing with only one RAM memory, and a couple of solutions on internet, but nothing worked out. Has anyone any idea how to solve this problem, Im doing the installation from a usb stick.
Im sure, the iso has no problems, and i already tried using other usb sticks..

Also, i notice that when i try to change the boot order, the bios wont save the changes, though i can start the usb using the boot override function im not sure if this is a good idea...

edit: I set it up with a program called winsetupfromusb.

I would suggest that it is one of two things.

1 Your OS install USB drive needs to be remade. I use the official Microsoft USB tool most of the time.
2 Your SSD may have an issue. The gene does have SSD secure erase I assume you have tried that.
