Maximus V Gene core clock stuck passed 42, RMA?

Hey Guys, first post ever on this forum (customer service down till Monday).

I have a particularly weird problem with my Maximus V Gene Mobo that I cannot seem to figure out, or find other threads regarding this problem (with the same type of mobo).
I recently built this system in February with the fallowing specs:

Maximus V gene mobo
Ivy 3570k
2GB Diamond 7870
16gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM
350gb WD HD with an older 250GB HD as secondary (had to cheap out somewhere..)
Windows 7 home 64bit
Dell u2412m monitor
600W Thermaltake PSU
This is my 3rd build in my lifetime (not new to builds or OCing) and I love my setup, its rock solid.

The problem is that when I first set up my PC, I OC'd my IVY to 4.5GHZ right off the bat with minimal voltage requirements (1.2v, I got lucky on this chip) I never had any instability's and I knew I could push it further but since I didn't need to with current games, I backed the throttle back to 4.2GHZ

A few months later when I tried to overclock the 3570k again, It seems that my V Gene mobo has developed some sort of "memory" that wont allow me to pass 42. I can type in 41,40,39,38 etc and all of the cores will switch to the number I imput. When I type 43,44,45 etc they all revert back to 42 tops, like if its locked.
I've played around with all the different power settings, practically researched all the individual BIOS commands and played around with them, tried 4 different BIOSes (the original, 1604, 1707 180something and 1903) and cleared the CMOS multiple times (obviously)
This kind a sucks because I know I can push this chip closer to 5GHZ on my aftermarket air cooler alone or further with H20 down the road... With this current 42 cap, I ain't feeling to "future proof" lol.

Any thoughts? RMA?

In bios select F5 for defaults and enter. This is important.

Then XMP profile for your memory in the mode of OC.

Now navigate down to set all core and select 44x You will only need to enter 44 once right at the top.

F10 to save and reboot.

Now during the reboot Del to get back into BIOS go have a look at what your target speed for the core is?

Do you have AIsuite installed, have you played around with it if you do have it installed if Yes then that is where your problem most likely lies. Remove it and you should be good to go. 🙂

Thanks for the help HiViz. I had AI suite installed with the rest of the programs that came with the mobo's cd. But I had deleted those programs months ago.
I've tried clearing the profile with f5 before, going back and forth from xmp to manual with ratio synchronization enabled or disabled but as soon as I imput any number passed 42 and move on to the next option, it jumps back to 42.
Like you said, I thought it was a good idea to type in 44 then hit f10 to save the profile and reset (before it could jump back to 42) but when it reboots, its set back to auto or 42...

I also noticed when I check the OC Level up options it shows 4.2, 4.16 and 4.08 with 4.2 being the highest... If I remember correctly, I thought I could select a higher level up before (not that I use these options to OC).
Its weird, somewhere along the line it saved 42 as the max OC, when XMP is selected I notice its stuck on "profile 1"? But I think that's only to load the optimal RAM settings...

You will have to use the AIsuite removal tool my friend that stuff is hard to get rid of.

I would suggest updating your bios or re-flashing your bios. If you have a K processor then it should not be maxed at 42 if you do not have a K processor then that is correct and how it should be.

F************ck....... When you mentioned if I had the K version I was like "duh, that was my intention when i built this rig". Yet you made me second guess myself and I went fiddling through my hardware boxes only to realize I never bought a K chip.... F***********ck... * goes back to fridge and grabs another beer*
Thanks anyway for your input HiViz, much appreciated... Now I'm left with an ebay itch for a 3770k or a 2700k.....to sell or not to sell, that is the question lol

Dude you can get the clocks you want no worries with that CPU.

Change your BCLK to 125 and then play with your multi.

125 x 37 = 4625 so no worries about maxing out your cooling at all. 😄 😄

Oh and can I have a beer too please. 🙂
