Hey guys i need your help. I tried to screw my maximus v formula while the system was on and i saw a spark somewhere inside the encircled area on the photo below

I really don't know where did the sparks came from.

The question is what are those chipset (near to the screw hole) for? If the spark came from those chipset what damage can it do to my mobo?

Why would you in god's name fiddle with your mobo while the pc is ON, always plug out ALL your cables and turn the PSU to O instead of I
you should send it to where you bought it and let them test it.

I totally forgot about it, as if like my mind was blank. Although my motherboad is working and im currently using it right now. The it-supports from the shop where in i bought my motherboard are idiots. All they know is to ship back the motherboard to the supplier for rma. And it takes like 2-3 months for rma.

Well sparks are not good but not guaranteed to be terminal either. Maybe you killed something maybe not. If you're up and running it would suggest not but you never know....just have to run the board and find out....lesson learned I guess 😉

Indeed. A lesson very well learned.

BTW, I've notice some metal things around the hole, maybe the spark came from there and not from the chipsets, as i remeber the sparks where not that too far away from the hole, the spark generated when the screw did not enter the hole.

Yes possible. The screw hole is surrounded by solder on which the screw bites and can release up a few flakes...

Best thing to do is switch off everything and get a lens blower or can of compressed air or just blow good and hard...or use a watercolor brush etc.... to get rid of any flakes left after placing or removing screws...

If it works then all good don't do that again. And you are not the only one to have done stuff like that. Most of us have done so in the past.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.
