Hey all!
I see that something like this has already been discussed, but I didn't find solution for the problem. First of all I want to say that my PC worked for 3 years without any issues, and suddenly it started to crash (multiple random restarts) few days ago with a message that Power surge was detected and that motherboard prevented bad PSU from damaging my components.
My rig:
CPU: i7 3770K
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT 4x4GB (2133MHz)
GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 680 Classified 4GB
Soundcard: ASUS Xonar STX
SSD: 2x INTEL series 520 128GB
HDD: WD 3TB green
PSU: Enermax Platimax 1000W
What I tried to do is next: I removed both GPUs, as well as soundcard and everything that was connected to USB ports, and finally I removed 2 RAM modules at a time, then other two... but problem persists. I also removed molex that was connected to the fan controller and 6 Noctua fans and cleaned dust from PSU and case. When I managed to start my computer and run HWmonitor it seems that all voltages are perfectly fine (BIOS reading is the same). No peeks or drops whatsoever. I even tried a different power plug and socket, but problem persists. So, all I have connected now are 24 and 8 pin CPU connectors from my PSU. I didn't try different PSU, because I don't have one, but I did reset BIOS and I still have a problem.
Could it be bad MB or PSU? I was able to stress my CPU and no surges were detested during that time, so I suspect MB or PSU, there is nothing else left I supose. Same thing happens while surge protection in BIOS is disabled...
The thing is that I don't want to buy new PSU if my MB is defect... did anyone else expirienced that Maximus V Extreme have some issues regarding this problem? Or do you guys have any idea what could it be?
All temperatures are fine as well and I didn't overclock anything.
Thank you in advance!
