Maximus Hero USB3 Hard Drive Problems

I am having problems with connecting USB3 external hard drives, They are both new Samsung drives ( 2.5" portable and 3.5" desktop) , when connected to any of the USB3 ports I start to copy data to them they stop half way though with the mesage " the drive needs to be formatted before use" which of course they were, so reformat the drives only for the message to come up again, This problem does not happen when the drives are plugged into the USB2 ports

Not all components are compatible with Haswell USB3. This could be the issue. Although the qualified components in the QVL are limited using a drive form the list should resolve any issue you are seeing.

Would also check if those drives have any firmware updates.
