Maximus Formula V PCIE slots 2 and 3 not working!

Hey guys, im having issues with my newly aquired board, everythings working just fine on the board apart from my 2nd and 3rd pcie slots not seeing my installed gpus, though pcie lanes are being divided when either 2nd slot or both 2 and 3 are occupied, under system agent i can see my 1st 6970 running at 16x native when its alone and at 8x native when trying to crossfire. Ive reseated the cpu, cleared cmos, flashed the bios to its latest, ive tested all 3 cards in port 1 with success and all 3 cards in ports 2 and 3 with no image at all, though i can hear windows 7 chime on when it loads, board gives no error codes at all when i card is in 2 or 3, just loads right to windows with no image... Ive been reading alot about this issue on this forum, seems to be pretty common on some z77s 😞 ive started up rma process but i thought id just give it a shot and see if anyone knows something i have yet to try, this board has never been used just open boxed. im also certain this isnt a issue with my ram or my cpu as i have no issues getting 2 6970s to crossfire on my MIV gene-z gen 3. Anything i can try before shipping this board off? 😞

Hi ViperZZTX. As I understand it there is not much difference between Gen2 and 3. I believe you can change a setting in your Bios to Gen 3 which may help and it has for some and not others.

I have also read a forced patch for Nvidia setups was made available. However you are Crossfire so not sure if a similar patch is available.

The CPU is the PCIe controller and not all can be patched.

We are into new ground here, so any research or info you find would be helpful. I somehow don't feel RMAing your board will help.

btw, Are you using a sound card?

Sorry, I could not be more helpful and Good Luck.

No sound card, i have found this issue in two places, one on here with same board and one on toms hardware with a sabertooth z77. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?36583-Maximus-V-Formula-Issue-PCI-e-x16-Slots-not-Working. and http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/325636-30-asus-sabertooth-slot-recognizing-video-card both these issues are identical to the one i am seeing and they do not look promising for me 😞
