Matrix 980 GTX, What Liquid Cooler is best / easiest?

Hello all,

I am loving overclocking my Matrix GTX 980. I've hit the limits of what I can do on air so of course now I am wondering about going to liquid cooling.

Is there any kind of guide for how to go about taking apart the card and switching it to liquid or is it as easy as taking off the screws and attaching the new cooler?

Any recommendations on what cooler to get, best performance, best fit on this card, whatever.... any recommendations?

Thanks all! Love these forums!

I've seen a few ghetto mods where users would buy a H80 or something along those lines and just zip tie the block to the GPU. Then you just add a fan to actively cool the VRMs.

If your budget permits and you plan to invest in a custom watercooling setup, Bitspower is the only brand that makes a waterblock for the GTX 980 Matrix.

Hey there Chino, man you always have the replies!

Well I don't know if I want to go too crazy all out just yet... I was thinking something like the Corsair H110i and some kind of GPU mounting bracket? Is that kind of ghetto haha, I guess it doesn't cover the memory much. I will look into this more!

EDIT: After a quick look I see corsair makes a mounting bracket, would one of these fit on the matrix half decently?

I link to microcenter since I have one by my house 🙂

ACtually edit again and I see they make one just for the 980:

I wonder if that is worth it ? I don't really want to zip tie it lol, is this my next best bet?

Unfortunately that bracket only works for the Strix GTX 980. If you're feeling adventurous. I guess you can always mod it to fit the Matrix.
