Low FPS with new Strix-r9380

Hello everybody,

I have a performance issue with a brand new Strix-R9380 and I can't understand why.
My previous setup was using a Radeon HD 6770 and was giving me a 60-70 FPS with medium-high settings in World of Warships. With the new R9 380, I barely get 20-25 FPS with the same settings. I have tried Crimson 15.12 and 16.2.1. 3DMark Fire Strike test gives me a 1300 score when I should get a 7000 score according some reviews.

GPU TweakII will fail to start with the new card (but runs well with the previous one). GPUZ and Crimson are showing 0 MHz for the GPU and memory clock.

What could be the issue? I'm running out of idea except having a faulty card. So far ASUS support has been useless.

JP

Setup : Win 10.0.10586 64-bit, Intel i7 2600, Gigabyte P67A-UD5-B3, 16 GB Kingston DDR3-1333, Thermaltake 750W PSU, Coolermaster HAF-X case. CPU idle temp is 24c, load is 40c. HD 6770 temp is 30c idle, 45-50c load. (i can't get the R9 temp, no tool is able to report it, however I can touch the heatpipe without burning my finger, so temp should be OK).

Have you tried uninstalling everything driver related with a program like DDU and then installing fresh drivers?

Yes, of course.

PS: My first real 3d card was a Voodoo 3DFX, so I do know how to handle graphic cards! So you can skip all the basic troubleshooting. 😄

OK well, short of trying it in another system or on a clean install on a spare drive...just RMA the card I guess...:(

ASUS sent me a new card that works perfectly.
