Issue with my PC

I've currently been having issues with my computer. It will shut off and try to boot back up and shut off again. When this happens I just shut the PSU off so it will stop. I get a message saying overclocking has failed, but I didnt have an overclock. So I came here asking for help and I got some. The problem was my RAM wasnt getting the 1.65v it needed since I have 2400 mhz. This worked for a couple of days, but then it shut off and trying to boot again to no avail. Someone was saying that I need to have my CPU overclocked to a minimum of 4.2ghz with 2400 mhz RAM. So after awhile I was able to get into the BIOS and overclock it to 4.4 ghz, but 15 minutes later I had the same issue repeat of "overclocking failed". Then I searched again online to see if I could troubleshoot the problem. I read that someone just had to update their BIOS and everything started to work again. So I updated my BIOS to 2801, and my computer worked for a day, but the problem is back now. Im just wondering if there is any last thing I can try before I RMA any parts to try and fix this problem.



I have a 4790k, Maximus VII Hero Motherboard, and 16gb of 2400 mhz RAM.



Also, could the PSU be causing this issue?

Would you have any friends close by that would let you test with theirs?

Maybe take your pc to their house?

and unfortunately again all my friends tend to think consoles are better and none have a psu I can borrow

Ok well thanks for the help with the overclocking problem. Once I get the new PSU Ill come back here and let ya know if that was the problem or not.

Im thinking I might just RMA the PSU and see if thats the issue or not

How could they think such a thing. 😄 At least you know better.

I guess the only thing to do is contact corsair and tell them the problem, they will set you up an RMA. Ask them if they do cross shipping to save you time.
