I have settled on this temporary software patch solution for now

This allows me to use any microcode update that intel releases even when bios is not updated
It would be nicer to have a more permanent solution to patching the code into the uefi, but this is great too!
The current (BA) microcode seems to have solved small micro freezes my machine had at times during games. Running smooth at the moment.

ASUS has released a batch of bios updates for Z170-270 range with integrated microcode updates.
Running for a week now, no problems spotted. Thank you ASUS Team!
