Although I've actually swapped out the R9 290 for an MSI GTX 970 since.

Just out of interest, is it preferable to OC the CPU first and then the GPU or vice versa?

Hopeful thanks in advance.

Hello XP_version1 and welcome to the ROG forum.

You have the corsair h60, I'm not sure how far you will be able to get but I will say at least 4.4GHz.

You can start with either the cpu or gpu when overclocking, just make sure the one you start with is 100% stable before moving to the other.

here is the maximums vi guide, It's basicallty the same as overclocking with a maximus vii board.

http://rog.asus.com/254052013/maximus-motherboards/recommended-settings-for-overclocking-maximus-vi-...

if you have any questions after reading that just ask.

Haha, there is a lot of that that doesn't make sense!

Jumping from laptops to this, by my standards anyway, beast of a machine, is a massive change.

Oh, yay, forum's back up.

I would seriously love any guidance you could give. I've been reading around it on and off for most of the week but just get lost and slightly panicky when things about voltage and temperature come up.

Yeah desktops are where it's at for overclocking, I know you will like making the switch.

If you need help overclocking just say so.
