Intel Core i7 7700 & 7700K not working well on ASUS Z170 Motherboards - BIOS 2202

I just received 2 processor from a guy at Intel, the first thing I do is to try it out on my motherboard to see how those processors work.

60634

The first thing I noticed that my Z170 TUF only recognize 8GB of 2133mhz ram, with XMP in the BIOS is turn off, and my motherboard won't be able to start with XMP on, when I change my CPU back to 6600K everything is back to normal, I try another CPU and motherboard and got the same result.

I can't change the VCORE, i can't turn on the XMP, the BIOS version is 2202 - the latest BIOS from ASUS website

My motherboard:

Maximus VIII Formula
Z170S Sabertooth
B150 Progaming D3

The ram i have used:

- ADATA XPG DDR4 2133 - 16GB
- HALL OF FAME DDR4 3600 - 32GB
- AVEXIR CORE DDR3 - 16GB
- Gskill Ripdraw DDR4 2400 - 32GB

60633

Still the same result, have ASUS got any idea about how to fix this problem because i have been told that ASUS already knew this 3 weeks ago? Thank you!

Hello

Kaby Lake processors are not supported until NDA has been lifted and the product has launched.

Nice to get a preview but as Praz has stated there are legal ramifications. Once the NDA has been lifted Im more than sure there is a BIOS update that has already been prepared to support the new CPU.

try a GA since they have the update send to all. *Asus is my primary and the GA is my backup, I have being using my backup board since Asus is not stable 3 RMA so far. and on my back up is just a breeze and a 140 usd price. I am worry with Asus board. I know that many have being flying nice. for me has being a nightmare. I really want to see how those chips perform.*

There are several article out stating bios 2202 supports Kaby Lake
http://edgeup.asus.com/2016/10/05/asus-announces-support-next-generation-lga-1151-socket-processors/

I have a 7700K arriving tomorrow, will it support it, or is there some magic date stamp that will not allow support until NDA is lifted, fortunately I have a Z-270 board coming after NDA
7700K's are available for purchase in the US at PC Connection http://www.pcconnection.com/product/intel-processor-core-i7-7700k/bx80677i77700k/33136801
I also purchased one of these http://rockitcool.myshopify.com/

Looking forward to see if its worth replacing a 6700K that can hit 5 GHz or not.

I am not expecting a value of worth, even with the NDA not being lifted there are enough reviews on the web to know there is no IPC gain, only a refinement that gives a MHZ gain, if your chip already does 5GHZ you won't be gaining much if any processing power

I'm surprised you guys can even talk about issues with Kaby Lake and your Z170 boards with an NDA in place.

I suspect you are being naughty.

There are reviews all over the web, I purchased my chip retail, as Om3ga says the bios is compatible, chip is recognized but cannot change multiplier, voltage etc

I am always naughty

Cool Menthol !

I hope you get it working soon, I'm as anxious to see your results as you are to overclock it. 🙂
