I suck

K i suck at this straight up. I want to OC in Bios, not A.I suite.

Is anyone currently overclocked on their crosshair V Formula board with AMD 8150 FX over 4.0 Ghz through BIOS?
If so, what are your voltages/setting that you changed to achieve that Stable OC? Just gimme a quick run down like:

Frequency:
NB Voltage:
Etc..:
Etc..:

Thanks.

Edit: I'm cooling with Antec 620

Try bumping your Northbrige voltage just a tick. and run your test. use intel burn test it will tell you real fast if you are stable or not. Remember use very small changes and keep a log so you can see how you are progressing. And at least save a oc profile in your bios so you can go back to it easy.

Zero.exe, which Mushkin Redline kit you have exactly?

What do you mean by load, where you've got 50C at 4.2GHz? - I think that's very good!

Hi, Zero
Here are my settings running stable at 4515Mhz, but as others have said, every chip acts different.
Hope this helps..

Zka17, thanks. I was worried if it was too high. What I mean by load is the stress test. The temps will reach as high as 50.
Under idle, its around 31 degrees.
I did the "nono" thing by buying separate kits. I know, i know, never do that, i took a risk. But its worked out great so far. Each kis is 2X4.

Speed, i already bumped my NB Voltage to 1.16 for the Ram, cuz i set my timings and voltage so the Ram runs 1866. A few articles i ready said try to avoid raising it. Is it currently too high or can i go higher?
Ill DL intel Burn.

Hey thanks Ravfour22, Il try em out, and if i cant get it stable ill have to play around.
Do you think that since clocked my ram at 1866 before i even started OCing my processor, that i may have screwed myself up?

Also, could useing 4 Dimms for ram be an issue?
EDIT: I pulled out 2 sticks of ram, out of Dimms 3/4 and didnt make a difference 😞

Ravfour22,
I Input your settings, and every time I boot get to the screen "Overclocking failed. please enter setup.."
So I returned my Ram to Auto, including the timings, thinking that was this issue. No dice. Why am i getting this screen now?
Its fun to overclock, but irritating to restart comp 800 times and still not achieve anything -_-

EDIT: Also note, whenever i take the Multi to 19.5 or more, i get that boot error "Overclocked failed .. ..."

Hit 4.32 (seems stable during stress test)
Cpu Multi: 18
Bus: 239
Cpu V: 1.39
NB Frequency: 2340
NB V 1.16

It seems to me, If i raise my Bus speed higher, but keep my multi under 19, I can increase my clock and run stable. I haven't taken my bus above 240, not sure if I'm doing this right. What do you guys think?

Sorry I ment cpu/nb voltage. When you pulled 2 sticks did you make sure they were from the same kit? I think you would be better off with some gskill or corair ram. a 16 g kit.

Yeah same kit. I have NO problems tho with Ram tho.. Like my overclock of the Ram, altho being TWO separate kits, works friggin amazing.. hence why I swear by Mushkin. Im not bragging, just stating how great it worked out.
The "overclocking failed" message is cpu overclock. For some reason when i push the Cpu multi to 19.5 and up, I get the overclock failed, and it displays my clocks as "Memory ... 1840mhz; CPU...3600mhz" So that's a dead give away my cpu overclock failed.

Is there a rule about raising Bus speeds, and what you shouldn't hit as a high number compared to what you multi is etc..? Like as an example, "If you raise Bus speed passed 240, you must compensate by raising NM voltage. If you raise NB frequency passed 2400, you must compensate by raising multi" Sorta rules?

I will never touch Corsair. Ever. I hate their quality control. Between myself and a friend who worked for a computer electronics store, we have had several PSU Dead on arrival. I myself, Defect H100 Pump out of the box.

K this is seriously confusing

Heres what im doing: Attempt to achieve 4.5 Ghz Stable

At my current clock, i decide to bring multi to 18.5. Save reboot. Windows freeze.
Adjust CPU Voltage to 1.40. Reboot. Windows freeze. Adjust Volt to 1.41. Reboot. Windows freeze. Adjust Volt to 1.43. Reboot. Windows loads. Run stability, Windows freeze. Reboot. Adjust volt to 1.44. Windows loads, run stability, windows freeze. Reboot. Adjust volt to 1.45, reboot windows freezes.
K so 1.45 too higih, 1.42 and under too low... either in between unstable?
leave CPU Volt at 1.37

Adjust NB V to 1.75. Windows fails to load. Adjut to 1.62. Windows fails to load. Adjust to 1.68, Windows loads. That seems to be the only Voltage this thing likes.
So leave NB V at 1.68

Then adjust CPU/NB. Raise from stock to 1.175. No effect, still unstable. Udjust to 1.181. No effect. Adjust to 1.187. Stil unstable.
Reuturn to 1.175
Leave at 1.175

Then try Dram. 1.59Volts no effect, 1.60volts no effect, 1.61 volts no effect
Leave on 1.60

Adjust NB frequency. Anything above 2430, windows fails to load. Anything below 2430, windows fail to load.
Leave at 2430

So my conclusion: Something seriously messed up here. I reach the high and low limit on several Voltage options, everything else doesn't effect stability.
What could i be missing here? ive read every tutorial on this Site, other forums like overclockers and pretty much everything i can come up with. Nothing I adjust allows me to stabilize at 4.5

get some gskill. I think your ram is the problem. most times a bad oc will blue screen. this is freezing. try some gskill.
