Probably! But which CPU? I guess something is set to alert at that temp. You can probably change the alert temp to one you are comfortable with any point below Intel spec for your processor.

Hm... it would be extremely helpful if you would mention your specs with this kind of questions.... at least put the specs in your signature... 🙂

I assume that this is your setup (post #1): http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?19919-keeping-the-harmony

If I'm right, then something is wrong over there... 😞 but first about that warning... - you're getting it because it's setup somewhere (perhaps BIOS) 70C as warning temp... the problem is that you're getting it at stock settings... even the 3570k (known to run hot under heavy OC conditions) should handle the stock settings... - except, if the cooling is not correct!

Yeah, i think your cooling is not adequate... it may be the overall airflow through your case, improper mounting of the CPU cooler, or just simply to weak cooler - or all of these... I strongly advise you to evaluate your cooling and fix the issues! Specially if you want OC'ing in the future...

With all these said, 70C is still on the green area of the temp range, although close to the upper limit... so, if you stop doing whatever it caused to heat up like that, your CPU will be fine... - if you continue, I guess, your system will shut down or at least will start throttling (other protection mechanisms)...

I think tjmax is 105 for those but you could check that. 75 and below is a good temp I reckon but this is a prime 95 temp...gaming should really be less. What is your idle temp. Are you somewhere warm? If it is hitting 80 for long I would improve your cooling

you got it! that'll be my specs guess ill have to edit my sig-specs then, the thing is im running on a bench.. no not actually a bench its a box, tthank you for your never ending help bud though i've noticed one thing its not the cpu itself here take a look
ive left it on since i was gaming what the hell is CPUTIN?

Oh, yes the HWMonitor... I was hoping, while I'm switching from the Rampage series mobo to the Maximus series that HWMonitor issue would disappear... well, it didn't happen...

On the Rampage mobos the AUXTIN and CPUTIN things were reported incorrectly (I mean, they're still are)... it seems that on Maximus series too... (I observad that on my MVG too)... just look on your picture - do you think that AUXTIN at 2C is correct? what's your ambient temp? (you know that your temps can not go below ambient, right?) just disregard that! focus on the core temps...

On the other side, 40C at idle is still hot! again, what's your ambient temp where you're running that system?

Your idle temps are a bit high for my liking....unless you are in a room at 30 degrees.

If you have more than one program polling temps you cannot rely on what they are giving. If the warning is from a program polling in the background HWmonitor may not read right....etc.

today its around 25 since its rainy here, my best bet would be that it is the stock fans, the heat sinks are so little now compared to 775 stocks

on extra note ive rebooted just to make sure it's now around 36-38 on idle

just look at the sink my ram is slightly taller than it

Yes, Arne is right about using a single temp assessing software! I always installing only one at a time and when I have the HWMonitor, it's giving these readings...

At 25C ambient temp, with your 40C idle temps - you definitely need to revise and improve the cooling!
