I have 3 ASUS GTX680 (4GD5) in SLI - Why exactly do I need 12gb Titan?

I've been a PC gamer since PC gaming was created, but haven't looked at gaming hardware in over a year.

I now have 3 ASUS GTX680 4GD5 in SLI running @ 6060 x 1200 resolution on a surround display configuration, no issues, great performance. What exactly does the 980 or Titan bring to the table I'm missing? :confused:

and the answer is,if you are satisfied with the games and resolution you play then nothing.

If and when you are not happy with your setup then by all means upgrade.

The gtx 980 is just more efficient and Titan is for bragging rights (Epeen)

That's useful thanks. I like to skip a generation unless I run into a performance issue.

On my ASUS Maximus Extreme VI mobo the 3 4gb GTX680's in SLI still rock. I have their air cooling managed via the mobo's thermal sensors which control a 4000rpm 120mm Delta fan zip tied to the top & 2000rpm 120mm zip tied to the end of the three GPU cluster. It's a great non water cooled 3 video card solution which keeps two cards under load max 72c and the third 80c in an air conditioned apt. It wouldn't be enough cooling without a Corsair 600T case with 4 side mounted fans though, the ambient temps inside the case overwhelmed the box pretty fast without the side fans.

Yep, good things happen to people that are patient.

Amd is rumoured to be bringing out a r9 3xx series soon and i believe that Nvidia will counter with the Big Daddy Maxwell (gm 200)

The gtx970/980 are entry level maxwell gpus but very good ones

Oh the 980's are brand spankin new... had a few moments to look into them.

Might be time to upgrade 🙂
