High Bclk?

Is going for high BCLK a thing? I have an x99 Sabertooth and have tinkered around with it a little. I can get it stable at 167 bclk but it won't boot every time. Just curious if I'm wasting my time with it or should I work on it some more?

Hi Klute_0nren

The BCLK gives you very little in performance, I was able to get the BCLK to 300 on my maximus viii formula and 6700k.

I'm running the BCLK now at 200MHz and the performance gain is miniscule like maybe 1 FPS, it may help if you're trying to edge out a world record.

ok thanks, I'm doing it just for the fun of it rather than performance increase. I just like knowing where the limit of every aspect is so I can tweak a little better.

My first rig was an Athlon XP-m back in 2003 and I enjoyed the differences fsb made vs ghz vs timing's etc. Back then simply loading the OS would show the changes by how it would react to general use. Just something I find interesting.

Thanks for the input

Ill echo like a parrot. Its often harder to OC via the BCLCK but in the end its all about one thing multiplied by the other. I was able to get one 6700K to 4.8 GHz by using a 200 BCLK and 24 multiplier but couldnt get it there and stable with 100 x 48. You memory and its multiplier will play into the equation as well, everything else if Im not mistaken is locked at 100 MHz.

Just FYI, its not considered stable unless you can run it at a particular setting, pass stress testing and boot without event.

yeah, by stable I mean I can get it to boot and stress for several hours stable.

I think something is going on with my machine because even tame OC won't boot every time. This rig hasn't been right since I built it, it has been apart the majority of the time I have had it because I've been revising it constantly. Finally I put it all together the way it came when I first bought it and I'm using the extra pieces to build a new rig the right way. So I've got a Maximus IX Hero in the works. I really hate this machine but now that it's actually together I'm going to troubleshoot it.
