GTX Titan Quad-SLI & Rampage IV Extreme Break New 3DMark 11 Records

Mankz

All three 3DMark 11 present records have been smashed by Andre Yang wielding four Titan’s and a Rampage IV Extreme!
The four GeForce GTX Titan’s were ran between 1.4-1.45GHz with memory running at 7.1GHz (effective), while the Core i7-3970X ran at just over 5.7GHz. Naturally everything was super-chilled using LN2.

Oh, Mankz already confirmed my theory regarding the hardware level mods... 😄

Yes, Myk, HiVizMan is a great mentor in OC'ing and I already learned a lot from him! But my point was a little bit different... - if Asus sharing these records with us, meaning that Asus hardware is capable of those records, then it would be nice to share HOW we can achieve them... or at least get close to them... Because, right out of the box, very few hardware are able to do that...

In order to set world records, you either need extreme luck with the chips you get, or you need cherry-picked chips, insane cooling, and a lot of CPU's motherboards to kill to find 'the golden one'..

End users can get some impressive scores, but they days when a bloke at home can set the highest levels of OC's have slightly past.. They can set impressive numbers, but usually don't have the finances available to burn through 10/20 chips a weekend.

That is very true Z, but don't forget we've only been playing with normal OCing and some of you guys of course have LC/WC...Viz is Extreme don't forget 😉

I am holding out hoping that eventually custom cards will eventually be released. And that wiring looks suspiciously like Zka was there

Only if there is a huge outcry/mega demand from customers would that be a possibility mate

Hmm wouldn't hold my breath! Didn't realise this was hardware modded titans....doesn't say much for the card in the end...just for the chip.

Are Nvidia going to power it properly and call it a 780....I wonder?

Holding hope not breath Arne, it's all about money, if they exhaust the 1000 dollar market, why not sell a few higher dollar specialty cards. if the market is there.

Yeap, that is true, Mankz... - but how about those end users who are willing to invest in benching? Just for sake of fun...

You know, buying those expensive hardware and all necessary things are not enough... some knowledge is necessary too... - and my point here is if we could get some additional knowledge with our Asus hardware? Or we're just paying premium price for premium products and that's it?

Most of the mods are already common knowledge if you know where to look, and if you grasp what needs to be done, you don't need to ask much ever again. Shamino and Andre share what they can, but don't get too deep into detailing every little mod. A number of reasons for that. Not going into it all, I'll just say this: These hardware based mods all invalidate warranty. It's better for us as a company to allow those versed well enough in electronics to perform and post mods. Anyone that needs to ask usually needs a lot of hand holding. There are communities that will help you do that stuff if you know where to look.

Google search zombie and GPU (or similar terms). Once you grasp that, then you can apply that knowledge to all cards. The small variables always get leaked out (pwr good pins for example).

Thank you, Raja, for highlighting that... that is exactly my question! 🙂 "where to look for"?! Believe me, I did a lot of google searches, but running out of the keyword ideas... - thanks for the new ones you just shared!

If you don't mind, and it happens that you actually know specific locations, please, share them! Even if only in PM - in case that you still have warranty concerns... I think, I already passed those borders (soldering on the cards, removing resistors) when I could apply for a warranty claim anyway... 😄
