GPU Tweak: Do I have to leave it up?

Morildar

So, I'm OCing my GPU for really the first time ever. I'm usuing GPU Tweak since I have an Asus graphics card, and I've been having good results, overall.

My only real question is this: Do I need to leave GPU tweak running in the background in order for the changes I made to clock speed and voltage to remain in effect? Will the changes I made remain in effect even after closing out of GPU Tweak, or do I need to leave the program running in the background in order to prevent everything returning to their default settings?

Sorry for the uber-n00b question, and thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Morildar, Welcome to the ROG forum. You've come to the right place for help. I'm using precision x for my gpu overclocking and fan profile. There is a little box beside start up that I can check and it will keep my settings when windows starts. If I don't check the box for start up everything goes back to default upon shut down or reboot. Look for a box to check to run at windows start up then you won't have to set your settings every time.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not specifically referring to startup. I'm asking whether or not simply closing the program will revert everything back to it's default settings, or whether I can close GPU Tweak while retaining the new settings I had selected.

I'm basically asking if I need to keep GPU Tweak running in the background in order to keep my OC settings, or if it's safe to "X out" of GPU Tweak once the new settings have been "applied."

Once you apply your settings you can close GPU tweak and it will keep your settings until you restart your pc.

Cool, thanks.

You have the option to select start up with OS and that will ensure that the clocks you set in your last session will be loaded. Saves having to do your OC each time.

Asus driver CD for my R9 270 OC Edition installed GPU Tweak and GPU Tweak it Server

I want the option to run the GPU Tweak but i do not want any programs loading on boot

The GPU Tweak program was loading during boot but I was able to disable that in the software. But GPU Tweak it Server always shows in the taskbar on boot and I could not find a way to prevent this

I searched in startup and registry for programs that will run on boot and i cannot find GPU Tweak it Server. I just want to know why it is on my taskbar. Is GPU Tweak it Server part of GPU Tweak? Because i prefer nothing runs on boot and since I already chose the option to prevent GPU Tweak to run on boot, why didn't the GPU Tweak Server stop loading?

I see both of these programs in my ASUS folder in Programs and I know I can run them when I want but if there is a way to stop GPU Tweak it Server from running on boot, and it will not cause any problems, I would like to know how to do it.

Remove the GPU Tweak in that case. I think for some reason the server is installed at the same time.

When using Run GPU Tweak at start, it keeps running on background, there should be an option so it starts and then closes it keeping settings and saving a bit resources.
