geforce 770 windows 8

if i was using intel hd graphics 4000 before installing my geforce 770 on asus maximus formula v mobo should i remove any drivers associated with indel hd graphics? ive been having problems booting up windows 8. i get a black screen if i boot up normal but if i go into the bios first it will restart and work. i made sure it recognizes the pcie slot being the video card

I would do that, yes. The GPU fitted should trigger the GPU to be used in prefference to the onboard but maybe set that in BIOS just to be sure...if you have that option...should be there somewhere. Display is plugged into card with good working cable right?
