Front Base Panel Issue with Z170

Hi everyone,

I need some help with my Front Base Panel.

I have an ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard with the latest BIOS and am trying to use the ROG front base panel. Without any software installed, the panel shows a temperature and the base clock speed but no buttons work. The computer time doesn't display correctly either.

Here's what I have tried -

1. Downloading the newest Firmware, Driver and Asus connect from the website. When I try to install it, I get an error that says: Front Base - ICP_Mode Init Failed

2. Using the Q connector to connect to a USB 2 port only and the installing the firmware / driver - the same thing happens as in number 2.

Am I doing something wrong or is the Front Base Panel just a waste of money?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

I suggest trying what this user did. (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?77273-Z170-HERO-Issue-with-ROG-Front-Base-Panel)

Uninstall the ASUS ROG Connect drivers.
Install the firmware update to the device.
Reinstall the ASUS ROG Connect drivers.

Hi skyler.jacobs,

I did try this but to no avail.

If anyone has succeeded in installing the Front Base with the Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,
