Fan Xpert in Ai suite 3 doesn't work properly

Hello,

I am using the Fan Xpert 2 as a part of the AI suite 3 to control the speed of my chassis fans. Some time ago, I could use all the features, could set them to arbitrary speeds or stop them. I don't know what happened, but now the Fan Xpert doesn't recognize the chassis fans anymore.
Their actual speed is showed correctly and is refreshed each second, but I can't set a profile (temperature ←→ speed) anymore. Earlier I was able to do so. I've attached a screenshot of the program.
The AI Suite is up to date.

This is the link to my DxDiag: http://ubuntuone.com/2XZssJ0snm6kHCH37KrL2Y

Can you help me finding a solution? If you need more information / files, please tell so.

Greetings, Eldrad

I have exactly the same problem! CPU fans can be adjusted, but all 4 case fans display N/A and no adjustment is possible. Also the predefined profiles (silent, standard, turbo, full speed) are messed up. Full speed works like it should, but "turbo" stops all case fans completely, silent and standard will just set CPU fans to 100% and dial case fans down...

I have the Gryphon Z87 mATX mobo with an i5-4670k processor. Haven't tampered with any bios settings at all, except lower the fan speed warning limit for CPU fan to 300 because my fans dial automatically to below 600 out-of-the-box.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, other than just wait for ASUS to make a fix/new version of the program that works?

Not sure what the requirement is for fans, some how I seem to recall that they needed to be 4pin fans. Will find out for you. I do not use fan control on any of my builds so do not know off hand.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Make sure you're running the latest BIOS. Disconnect all the fan from their headers. Clear your CMOS. Upon boot, enter BIOS and load the optimized defaults. Continue to boot into Windows normally. When in Windows, launch Fan Xpert 2. Shutdown your system. Reconnect all your fans. Power up your system. See if that solves it for you.

Thanks for the help, got it working again! Tried everything suggested here, but to no avail. Anyhow, here's what I had to do:
First uninstall Ai Suite 3, reboot. Then remove all traces of the Ai Suite software manually by deleting the ASUS folders C:/Program Files(x86)/ASUS/ and C:/ProgramData/ASUS/, you might have to use the Ai suite cleaner program or shut down the processes from task manager to be able to delete the folders.
Then I ran a registry cleaner and removed all temporary files just to be sure, reboot again and reinstall the Ai Suite 3 software. Works like charm now!

Still not sure what caused the problem in the first place. A wild guess would be that because I used one chassis fan header to monitor my PSU fan speed (using only the yellow speed signal wire), maybe that messed up the Ai Suite's "sophisticated" fan controls somehow. I have now my two Noctua NF-R8 PWM (4-pin) fans connected to chassis fan 3 and 4 inputs, and so far so good 🙂 Hope this helps if someone else faces the same problem!

By the way, why does the Asus fan control limit chassis fans to a minimum of 50% duty cycle, compared to the 10% minimum of CPU fans? Would be good to have the same flexibility of adjustment for chassis fans also.
