Explaining Offset mode

Hi new to the forum, can one of you lovely dudes explain how to work offset mode, i think i must use this as voltages are been upped when set in manual mode, especially eventual cpu voltage, its been boosted other CPU settings as well. I think my MB is doing this, any settings that can keep the voltages as i set them in the BIOS?

My board is Asus Maximus Hero 6 with the latest BIOS

Thanks for that, I wonder if there is a updated guide, i have tried this but to no avail can't seem to boot offset mode nor can i add voltages with out it going red.

Anyone here know how to select the Offset on a Asus Maximus Hero 6? I followed these guides but for me, i have 4 options Auto, Manual Offset, Adaptive, once i select offset lets say i can only enter small values, So then when boot back it BSOD, i lose my current voltage.

Those guides are not very helpful in the slightest, to be honest

When using offset you are adding or subtracting voltage from the cpu and are only using small values.

Let me give you an example of how offset works.

Say I have my 3770k at 4.5GHz and 1.35v is needed to be stable. I open up cpu-z and it's showing 1.35v all good, so I run a stress test and during the stress test cpu -z is showing it jumping up to 1.38v.

This is where offset comes in, you just enter (negative with the minus sign) -.030v in the offset and run the test again to see how close it's staying to 1.35v and that's pretty much it.

keep in mind as you read in those guides the offset affects idle voltage too so if you take it too far you will get a bsod because it doesn't have enough voltage for stability at idle.

I hope I didn't make this sound too confusing but that's pretty much all there is to using offset.

Yes, thank you. I'm finding it hard t set the offset the BIOS. Example i set manual 1.350 and do a test, CPUZ showing 1.366, i need to remove 16 from it. So then i set mode from manual to offset, the manual volt stays i assume, then i can enter - 0.016. then it will pass post, crash when OS loads. I am setting these correctly?

I've tried every power setting including current power offset to get it to work, i don't know where to go from here. Does any body here know how to ENABLE offset mode?

Ok, this is what i know so far. After trying every option in the BIOS. I still can not use or its not enabled offset. It can be selected but it can not be used. Example once set to manual, then once changed to offset, manual box disappears deletes volts, leaves offset box no matter what volts are added here. BSOD on OS boot. I ask again does any body know how to enable OFFSET mode?
