BluRay is device E
DVD is device G

When i insert a disc into either drive it fails to run and i have to open the drive and reinsert it a second time before autoplay kicks in or i can examine the drive disc contents - what is wrong please? How can i correct this?
My Op system is on an SSD how long should it take to load estimated? SSD is 217gb free of 476gb

to the intel ports...... using a hd on the asmedia only

Have you tried logically unmounting each drive and remounting? I would force unmount through DISKPART and bring them back in.

Also, try restarting the Virtual Disk Service as it ties into the Disk Manager. Have you tried these drives in another system? I see they are both Samsung, have you looked possible firmware updates?

Because i had little response where i originally posted it and thought i would open the thread up into a general forum rather than a rive specific one in the hopes of getting ideas. I thought perhaps it was some simple thing i was missing out doing when building my system, but i have another win 7 system i built that operates ok with samsung drives also.

I will explore diskpart and see what it does if i have it. Up to now i have only removed the drives in device manager and then reinstalled them with no joy.

Ah ok 🙂

On the other system do you have the Samsungs on the same SATA controllers? Can you test your Samsungs on the Intel SATA controllers.
