did i hurt my 3930k?

ive been overclocking for a while now, and i noticed something strange.

on a few occasions ive brought my rig outside to take advantage of the freezing temperatures here. and cranked voltage up to 1.52v on the cpu.

ran many benches, stable, everything went perfect (got some awesome hof scores too)

anyways, when i went to return the bios back to my 24/7 mode (offset -.005, 4.5ghz, LLC high, everything else auto) it crashes, with the blue screen ending in 101.

should i buy the intel overclock warrenty and exchange?

thanks in advance

Hi abirli 🙂

Sorry to hear that...however before you assume it's the CPU can I sak what OS you are on...if win 8 a BSOD or two can corrupt the OS and throw up a lot of BSODs that look like CPU failure....and a fresh install cleans things up.

However I have had a 3930 suddenly go lame and that was the first sign....normal OC would not stick. 1.52 doesn't seem too high to me if the temps were well under control...but each CPU is its own world so you never know.

If you buy the protection plan they have a month without coverage at the beginning. If the CPU fails you can RMA it anyway plan or not...

The plan is meant to be purchased before any damage is incurred not after. That is like wreaking your car and then getting full coverage insurance for it.

I'm familiar with how the plan works it would just be easier and cheaper to purchase a plan wait 30 days. My computer still works issues I don't know if my overclocking headroom is burnt out now
