DDR4 RAM and ROG

Hi guys.

Been on the forums many times but this is my first post.
Recently had my G75VX cashed out by Best Buy due to a faulty mobo. I got my initial investment back plus a pro rated amount of my warranty from Best Buy.

Anyway, I'm wanting to buy a new laptop and I'm really liking the G750JH. The 780M graphics card looks amazing *BUT* with DDR4 RAM coming out right around the corner would you guys hold off on buying right now?
Also, is there any way to predict when the next line of graphics cards will be released?
Waiting a little while to get something superior is the way to go IMO. but at the same time I wouldn't want to wait 6 months just to get the latest and greatest RAM and vid card.

I'm curious to hear some of your opinions.

I try to stay current on laptop/technology info, but there's always people who get info quicker and know more than you do. So why not ping the masses and get some feedback?

Thanks guys.

Not sure about the right around the corner thing more like late next year. Buy your Notebook and enjoy it, there will always be something new just around the corner.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

The first Intel chips with DDR4 support are going to be Haswell-E and they are almost a year away from now. Broadwell (succesor to current Haswell) still uses DDR3, DDR4 will come to non E platform with Skylake so it's 2 CPU generations and about 1,5 year away. I don't think you should worry about DDR4.

Plus, DDR4 is going to be pretty expensive for the early adopters.

Buy it now, and don't bother waiting. The G750JH will be powerful regardless of what comes out. Just because something newer comes out doesn't mean that the older harder got slower.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

DDR4 will appear on server chipsets first and then the highend and then consumer boards so it is a while off yet. It is also part of the great powersaving drive so, no doubt it will have a good power performance ratio but in terms of absolute performance may well introduce at parity with DDR3...best case...or even slightly worse especially in terms of OCability. So, all in all I wouldn't hold your breath as it were. Go for what you want/need today. If you wait for the next best thing you wont buy anything ever....get married ever...etc.

Personally I see nothing wrong with this notion! Adding that to the sentence made your perfectly good point, rather shallow in the end! Hahaha!

And this is EXACTLY why I asked you guys.

Tons of good information with a little trolling (which isn't a bad thing lol)

Right on. I'm gonna go with the JH and be happy. I'm having gaming withdrawals anyway.

Thanks a ton for the responses. You guys are awesome.
