Hi, I didn't get Pci-e 3.0 support with my i7 2600K Sandy Brigde, so I bought a i7 3770K Ivy Bridge 🙂 Now I got full Pci-e 3.0 Support in the Bios, but most of the games has a crash before they started !!! I got then a black screen and after a few second I got the Error " No Signal" and my monitor goes in the sleep modus, did anyone has this problem too ? I've try'd different drivers for the R9 290 but that makes no differents "HELP !!"

Hi Cruncher, can you look in the windows event viewer to see what is causing the crash? Also could you tell us if you are overclocking your cpu, using cpu level up or XMP for your ram.

I run my i7 2600k on asus p8p67 deluxe for 2 years stable at 4.8Ghz with my XFX HD6990 without any problems and wonderfull benchmarks results but since I have the Maximus V Extreme with XFX R9 290 things going wrong 😞 already change the Sandy Bridge with a Ivy Bridge also at 4.8ghz watercooled, XMP normal DDR3 1600 The GPU on Gen 3 the other settings in the bios susch as presets 1, 2 or 3 and force pcie1 x16 disable or enable i don't untherstand. Now u put a extra 6 pins on the motherboard (normally for Multi card power support) and a few games are running good now, but the benchmarks in Hard Reset are dissepointing me against teh resolts a had with my HD6990. Hitman Absolution crashed during the benchmark ERROR DirectX needs to close Er_Code = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, Er Discription = Hardware Device Removed 😞 My older PC a Q6600 with DDR2 & GTX580 has beter benchmarks then my new XFX R9 290

The direct x error is caused by the gpu. You can try setting defaults in the bios (F5) and play a game and see if it still crashes. Set force pcie x 16 to disabled, with 1 card installed it will run at x16 automatically. If it still crashes at default settings, we could try setting up your ram manually and if you are referring to the presets as cpu level up, we really don't want to be using that either. The xmp and cpu level up can sometimes make a machine unstable, although usually not the gpu.

I disable the other 3 pcie slots with the dip switches on the motherboard, I use thr HDMI kabel between the card & monitor because I thought that gives the best performance but meaby i must take the othet vgd kabel so i can use the OC key ??

Yeah if you want to use the overclock key, you will have to hook up to your monitor with a dvi cable. Did your game crash at stock settings?

with the stock settings of the card ? The XFX is the Black OC edition en runs at 980 isntead 947 🙂 Or do you mean te CPU at 3.4ghz insteat of 4.8Ghz ? yes from the first day (with the i7 2600k) Not all the games, Battlefield 4 runs great on Ultra High Settings, Hard Reset to, but I wanted to run the 3DMark11 en during the thirth test i had e black screen 😞

yeah I mean with your bios at stock settings. Go into your bios and hit F5 to set defaults and play a game just to see if it still freezes. if it doesn't freeze that would tell us you are not stable when you are overclocked.

i did not set the default settings in the bios yet but now use the level up@4.6Ghz setting, I run the AIDA64 Extreme burn in (stability) test for 2 hours with GPU-Z 0.7.6 and after 2 hours the CPU was 59/63°C and the motherboard 22° The Videokaart was GPU Clock : 975/980 GPU Temp : 89°C and GPU Load 48/90% after 2.20' I quit the test becaus I had some things to do with the PC, maybey I let the test running again during the night ? for 10 hours ?

Hi, I did my story at the technical service of the shop where I bought the XFX R9 290 an,d he told me to bring the R9 290 back to send her to XFX for reparation of exchange for a new one, but ther"s something wrong withe my card he said, and when that is solved i'm gonna place water cooling on the card 🙂
