CPU Cooling - Advice needed

Hi All,

I currently have a Akasa Revo AK-925 to cool my Phenom II X2 555 that i have UCC'd and OC'd to a Phenom II X4 B55 at 3.7 my temps always sit around 35-50oC what i am happy with but although i dont think i will get much more performance from changing the cooling i do think that it will help with the general flow of air as the AK-925 is a chunky bit of kit.

I have being looking at Liquid cooling and this has given me a few options, now my budget is very low at the moment (a lot lower than my ambition) and so i have looked at a few options.

  • Full Liquid Cooling and selling the Cat
  • CPU Liquid Cooling custom build
  • CPU Liquid Cooling out of the box all in one solution.

I know i might get burnt at the cross but are the all in one solutions actually any good?

Here are the ones i have being looking at.

Corsair Hydro Series H40 Hydro AMD Socket AM2 AM2+ AM3 AM3+ FM1 Intel 775 Also the Corsair Hydro Series H55, H60, H70
21530

Antec Kuhler H2O 620 CPU Cooler
21531

Coolermaster Seidon 120m 120*27mm Radiator Pwm 600~2400 Rpm
21532

Zalman LQ315 Blue LED Ultimate Liquid CPU Cooler (Only issue with this one is i dont want Blue LED's i want Red 😞 )
21534

Are any of these actually worth the money? or am i better keeping my current cooler and looking at guiding the air flow inside the PC?

I would stay with what you have as your temps are very very respectable.

Cool thanks for the fast reply,

That leads me towards figuring out a custom way to direct airflow around the PC, i am thinking of a custom system that will keep my graphics card air away from the rest of the PC as i have figured out that it is my card that creates the most heat. My new case now has the PSU at the bottom of it venting out of the bottom so that eliminates a fair bit of the heat but not as much as i would like.

What case you using? And how have you configured the fans?

I am using an AvP Defender 400 K2 with a 12CM in the top pulling out, 12CM in the front pushing in, 12CM in the rear pulling out and a 12CM in the side pulling in that i connect when im using the PC to run events.

I am not convinced about the side fans, I have seen how they break air flow.

But that is a nice configuration and no wonder your temps are as good as they are.

Yeah normally don't use the side, I only use it when my PC is running the events system as the PC is running the streaming, recording, scoring system, sound, and also the projectors and the GPU really gets hot and sometimes pumps the temps up by an extra 20-40oC making it way to unpredictable.
