I received my new RAM for Rampage V Extreme the other day and installed the horrible coolers that came with them. Since I'm using water cooling these monsters does not make life easy, so I'm wondering if they're really needed. Will I ever reach temperatures, with OC'ing, that will make external cooling neccessary? If so, I'll probably go for water blocks, those monsters will never enter my case again.

No the external coolers are not needed, ddr4 ram runs significantly cooler than ddr3 because of the lower voltage. You can leave the monster coolers off and you don't need water blocks for them.
