Connecting 3pin fan-rpm to CPU header woes.

Hi all. I'm using the M6H board and the OC panel.
With my old MVE board I just plugged my 3 pin connectors from the d5 pumps to the CPU headers no problem even a case fan to CPU just to get a reading on the OC panel fan speed.
With this board when I try connect the 3 pin to the CPU header no matter how I try it feels like it will break if I go any more trying to get it connected.
Does the plastic clips above the pins prevent 3 pin connectors actually going onto the CPU header?.
The chassis header goes on fine.
I have just searched older posts and google but haven't seen anyone actually having a problem with this.
All have said 3 pin onto a 4 pin header is fine with one pin not connected. Except fan control probably won't work.
So if someone can tell me what the go is that would be awesome.

The CPU_FAN header supports 3 pin fans without a doubt. Check the pins and see if you didn't bend them or they might be out of place. Also check your fan connector and see if the holes are blocked or something.
