Computer Freezes

So I have just assembled my new pc and thought it was running smoothly but it wasn’t. My Pc freezes within 0-2 hours and I have to perform a hard reset to get it working again.

My pc is running with optimized defaults which should be fine as stable overclock? I’m planning on overclocking more, but I didn’t really need that much extra power right away so it wasn’t really a priority.

The freezes are happening while I’m working inside Vmware and it only happens when I’m consuming a lot of the ram and CPU

To fix the problem I tried using the XMP profile first with 64 GB ram, and when that didn’t work. I remove 32GB ram and tried running it again. It still froze within 0-2 hours and it didn’t really make a difference.

I then tried running with 32 GB ram. I used the optimized defaults in bios, used AI Suite to overclock my pc down to 3.3 GHz with 1.35v and 9 hours later it was still running. I then placed my 64 GB back into the pc and within 20 min my pc froze once again.

I have also tried using 2x 8x4 32 GB ram but I have the exact same problem.

I need some help since I have no idea what’s causing these random freezes.

When you say 'freezes' what do you see ... desktop frozen .. maybe snowy ??

imho .. HiViz was spot on asking about the ram/memory .... try any other ram/memory ... as a test. (been here..that was it.).c.

Not quite sure what by mean by snowy? What I mean by "freezes" is dektop is frozen can't move anything and it will stay that way for hours until reboot.

I do not have enough other ram to test with so I would have to buy some... If i were to buy new ram to test with what would you recommend?

What happens if you set the XMP profile for your kit of ram. Does your system freeze when in virtual mode.

My system freezes with XMP profile while I’m working inside my vmware if that is what you mean? The freezes only happens when I’m using a lotof ram.

Would you please run Memtest86+ as per my guide (link in sig) at the xmp profile. You might find that you have one stick or one memory slot that is playing up.
