Cant seem to get My Corsair Dominator Ram 2400mhz stable

System Specs:

Mobo:Asus Rampage IV Formula
CPU: 3930k at stock 3.2ghz
Ram : Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4GB 2400mhz
GPU : Sli 2x Evga 680GTX
SSD : Corsair 480GB Gt Force
PSU : Corsiar AX1200
CPU Cooler : Corsair H100i

The board wont let me get the Ram stable at anything above 1866mhz. If i do 2133mhz my games will eventually crash and if i try 2400mhz the BIOS wont even let me load up windows and says Overclock has failed. I have already updated to the latest BIOS drivers and am not too sure what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey spacecake13 🙂

Is that one kit you have there? Running two can give problems even if they are same make/model

Maybe you need to do a bit of tweaking...have a look at setting your RAM up manually with some of the tweaks at the end of this post

I got a 4 x 4GB kit. I'll check out the link. Thanks!

I'll check it out thanks. I have 4 x 4Gb kit btw. I'm only after finding out its not on the compatability list of the mother board 😕

Yeah, 2400MHz on the 3930k (LGA2011 CPUs in general) is pretty harsh... I believe, we have the same kits, spacecake13... - so here is what you need certainly to set: first, do everything manually; then set the CPU Clock Gen Filter to 20UF and Rampage tweak to Mode 2...

Then set the frequency, timings and voltages manually to what is on the sticker...

Run memtest86+ to be sure that the memories are stable enough...

Good stuff....if it's one kit then you have a much better chance of getting it to work. The QVL is not very exhaustive and the Dominator Platinums are a quality product and by and large seem to run well on X79.

Try setting them up manually and maybe try running them at 2133 if 2400 is impossible or relax the timings a bit.

It is normal to have to do some tweaking at this frequency though....let us know how you go...

Hey, thanks for the response guys i'm gonna try some tweaking later on in about 6 hrs. Gotta study for the end of semester exams first but as soon that's finished i'll be spending the rest of the night in the BIOS. I'll keep you posted
