BSoD every 5-10 hours. At a loss of what is going on

Hi Guys,

I put a new build together a few weeks ago and i thought everything went very smoothly. I managed to overclock my intel core-i7 4930k to 4.6 GHz and primed for a few hours and it was stable if not a bit hot.

I first picked up an issue when i was folding@ home, leaving the pc on overnite, I would wake up with a rebooted system. Prime also produces the same result IF i run it long enough - say 10 hours or more. Tried running at stock frequency but the same thing happens.

Ok, i know diagnosing a BSoD is hard, particularly online and im not sure how to proceed. I will provide my system specs and the error codes.

ASUS Rampage IV Formula Motherboard
Intel Core i7 4930K
G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-17000CL11Q-16GBZL 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3
2x raid Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB SSD
Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler Black Edition

Vcore was 1.392V when i was overclocking at 4.6Ghz.

When in doubt, underclock the component you think is giving you trouble. Prime95 mostly stresses the CPU but can also be used to stress RAM. Sounds like your GPU should be fine. I would try underclocking both RAM and CPU then slowly move them back to stock if it ends up stable. If you hit a snag, go back and figure out which one is giving the trouble. I know some of my older hardware needed more voltage to keep it stable. Even at advertised stock, my Corsair RAM needed more voltage under load.

My ram is 2133. But running it that fast instead of 1600 does not seem to make the problem any worse. The voltage on the ram is 1.605V. I am not sure how high i can go.

The strange thing is that when i was not running HWinfo64, the system was stable for 3 days but eventually went booom. Note sure of the significance of that.

I will try your recommendation, but it is frustrating that the issue takes so long to surface. I may also swap out my HD7970 with a spare card to see if that has anything to do with it. I am sure my PSU is good. i mean its a corsair platinum AX 760 so should be.

The codes d1 and 1e are operating system kernel and system driver errors. If you're sure of the hardware and underclocking produces more of the same, I suggest windows and driver updates.

Which version of Windows is installed? If Win 8, try 8.1. If Win 7, does it include SP1? After that, it's a matter of downloading updates from Microsoft and from Asus support for the drivers.

Well, as has been said many times before on here running prime is a good indicator that you are stable but not definitive in any way. Might be that you simply are not stable at that OC..

As noted above downclock 4.5 4.4 and see if the error persists. maybe check what VCCSA and VTT is the board setting...maybe try 1.65v vdimm?

Could try VCCSA LLC at high and current cap 120% as well as setting phases to optimized for the RAM in digi+ section...

Thanks Arne. I have bumped up VTT and VCCSA and also VDIMM. Also adjusted VCCSA LLC as u suggested. Lets see how we go overnite folding.

OK...see how you go...fingers crossed...

Maybe also check to see if any scheduled tasks are crashing you...like antivirus scans...windows scheduled tasks? Check event viewer see if any crashes are happening at similar times...

There are no scheduled antivirus scans. No tasks were/are scheduled in windows.

I again rain my pc last nite with HWinfo not loaded and it was still running in the morning. Last time i tried that the system did eventually fall over after 3 days or so but i was not there to witness it. Could it all be that program?

not sure to be honest....I mean it could be...I have heard weirder things...do you have any other monitoring programs installed like AI Suite or Corsair link that it may be conflicting with?

Some of these IB-E CPUs like a bit more current capability too...160-170%...and some sudden shutdowns have been cured by setting this...

Could try memtest86+ on the memory to be sure it's not that...
