BIOS Memory settings not being saved.

Still learning this latest BIOS, but I've struck a slight problem, can anyone help me with this.

I'm wanting to change the timings from default, to the XMP profile for my CMD8GX3M2A 1866C9 dominators in the BIOS.
However when I reboot the post stops at 55 which according to the manual is a "memory Initialization error, Invalid type or none compatible speed". I have to switch the system off, cause reset brings it back to 55. When I start up again and check the BIOS settings everything is back to default. So yea, I'm sure its just some other setting that needs changing but just what?
I ran memtest for 1hr and thats ok.

Currently configured @ 9 , 10 , 9 , 27 , 35 , 2T. Can anyone assist me to obtain this profile?

You selecting DOCP profile and then saving and exit right?

Not sure why that would throw a spanner in the works...

Maybe try setting RAM frequency manually and entering first timings in DRAM section.....?

Strange thing is I had no problem running CPU up 1st Stage then 2nd stage which boosted to 5.2GHz but it runs a bit too hot at 60c with this cooling setup, so I backed it back to standard clock at 4.7GHz @ 20c - 30c and im quite comfy with that.
Man I tell you what Ive never spent so much time f******g around and rebooting with a system as I have with this one. I guess i was never cut out to be a BIOS basher.
Shoot! all I want is a stable but super fast system, That ain"t tooo much to ask for is it?

PS: At 2nd stage the mem clock frequency went from 1866 to 2240 and it ran fine.

Hmm OK so you tried that....I was wondering if you set BIOS defaults and then set DOCP if it boots no problems...by stage are you using level up or whatever it's called? ....Maybe the high clock is running edge of stable and then can't run the RAM? If you are using BIOS auto options you might well find that if you OC entirely manually you can run less voltage and run the RAM at rated speed...at least that's something I see here often enough...

Well I haven't tried adjusting or changing voltages for vram and just left it all on auto. This is my first go with this memory,
The thing is, With this MB and BIOS, any changes you make don't always get saved when you manually key in figures. And then when you reboot and It don't get past post you have to shut it down completely in order for the board to recognize the ram. And if it don't like it, it won't post.
Gives me the S***s

Yeah plenty of starts like that setting up a new system ;)...

I would try F5 defaults and then set DOCP...see if that works...if not there might actually be something wrong with the RAM? Try Memtest86+ maybe?

Or if you set DOCP see what it is setting for BCLK or voltages etc....

Ok, will give it a go, sorry for being so long in responding but ive been trying things out.
As I said in my original post I run memtest86 for 1hr with no probs. I appreciate your help btw.

No worries....we're on opposite sides of the world so....;)

Yeah, sorry missed you had already memtested....though at 1333 I guess....

Opposite sides of the world, Your in a different galaxy aren't you (Orion's Belt), Anyhow I finally sorted it out, not too sure what did it exactly but reset to DOCP left the rest on auto and she booted fine. Here are my results.

They designed a top motherboard with this one imo, but tweaking it to get exactly what you want is a work of art!

Now to tighten up those timings. I would like to try Tweakit but it dont work , when the interface comes up you cant do anything with it!
Now I got another problem, I updated the Audio driver from the Asus supt site and now all my playback programs say I haven't got the sound card drivers loaded , so yea no sound. That will require a new separate post in the relevant section i suppose.
