Begining to Think I have a black thumb...

Okay, I can't think of any reason for my many hardware failures but they are stacking up. If you can think of something that I need to check let me know.

Tonight I had a Mushkin Enhanced SSD died...
Other recent failures.
on my fourth M5F they are replacing it with a M5E
My R3E toasted itself and the CPU i7-980X and also ASUS bench socket 1366 cpu
My P8Z68-v Pro/Gen3 Stopped Powering on
AX-750 PSU Died
AX-1050 PSU Died
H100 cooler started clicking

So is this all just bad luck or should I be having something checked out? I got a new surge protector just to be on the safe side.

Chef! That's a whole lot of toasted hardware there! Have you checked out your domestic power supply....are you at eye level with a radar station....being hit by Coronal Mass Ejections?

Yeah, too much toasted hardware... I would check the power in the house as first thing... Where you using the same wall outlet in all this time?

A good surge protector is the minimal requirement for a healthy pc, but I also like to have an UPS between the wall and my system...

I have a UPS on the outlets and a surge protector plugged into it mainly to get more outlets. It is a Tripp Lite SMART5000XFMRXL Smart Pro. I had my electrician buddy swing by and he tested both the wall and the UPS. We also have a battery rack system that can be charged by the generator or the power company and he tested it. He said that he found no spikes or browns from change over or normal operation of the system. He loves the power system in our house. He rewired it and designed the back up system. He said that our power is good but to be on the safe side he left a meter running for 48 hours and will check it on wed. to see if anything is wrong. He also moved the UPS and extra batteries out from the wall to give it a little more air. I could not do this by myself as it weights 290#.

According to him we don't directly get our power from the power company. Our house runs off a bank of batteries in the equipment room. They get their charge from the power company or the multi fuel 200 amp 36 kW generator. He said that there is a small chance that something is happening when the generator is self testing.

So if it isn't power he said that it is just bad luck...

That is insane amount of hardware.

Do you have static electricity issues at all. For example where I live I am constantly shocking my self when I get in or out of cars.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I hate that feeling! Getting home late night, really tired, then when you touch the car's door from outside to close it and it shocks you...

But, yes, bad grounding could be a problem to the OP...

We had a static problem a little while ago but got a humidifier that fixed those...I think you might have it cause most of the computer problems happened in late winter when the static was at it's worse. But I wasn't working on the computers when they had problems can static affected them with out you being involved?
