Hello,
I have Intel i9-14900KS and Asus Z790 ProArt Creator Wifi motherboard.
I use "Intel default settings" - "Performance" profile".
I would like to set thermal throttle limit not 90C but 85C or even 80C.
I suppose that setting this limit to 80-85C will impact on longer liveness of my CPU.
I try to set "Remove all limits" or "Remove all limits 90C", but I still cannot change "Thermal throttle temperature threashold limit" from "Auto" to manual value.
Are setting manual values blocked in Bios 2801?
How can I make my bios setting "Thermal throttle temperature threashold limit" set from "Auto" to "Manual"?
I have also noticed that am not able to set manual values in PL1 / PL2.
Can you help me?
Thank you in advance
Marcin

Hi Marcin,
I also have the same Intel i9-14900KS with an Asus Z790 ProArt Creator WiFi and i want to lower the thermal throttle limit to 80-85°C for longevity. It seems BIOS 2801 locks manual adjustments for the thermal throttle limit and PL1/PL2 settings. Asus BIOS often restricts these settings, especially in "Intel Default" or "Performance" modes. Some users report success by enabling "Extreme Tweaker" or downgrading BIOS versions. Intel CPUs are designed to handle 100°C, but reducing the limit can help long-term stability. Can anyone confirm a working method to manually set the throttle limit?
