asus x79 motherboards advice.

hello guys, my situation is sort of complicated and I need advice and opinion,
I currently own a rampage iv extreme, its pretty good except lately I have been facing few issues and problems, not critical but concerning, I live outside USA and I have ordered this motherboard from amazon USA, and I have contacted ASUS support concerning a broken PCIE broken clip and they said that I must send it to ASUS USA to have it repaired, and on my own cost since its not covered by the warranty. I have been facing other minors issues to and lately I have been thinking about selling it and getting another motherboard, not for these issues only but also cuz he rive features are kinda of an overkill for me, the OC key is still wrapped in its plastic inside the box along with the white rog connect cable since I have no use for them not to mention that I don`t think I will ever go for quad-sli, crossfire setup, maybe 2-way or 3-way in the future but quad never, since I don`t need it even if I get 3d setup or super HD monitor.

the reason I am writing this right now is cuz I am out of the country and I have a chance to pick a sabertooth x79 from here at a reasonable price, since I won`t have to pay for the shipping costs or anything like I use to do when I wanted to buy from amazon USA. the x79 sabertooth seems the perfect fit for my needs now and in the future, since it has x2 x1 pcie gen 2.0 slots for my sound card ( although one will be covered by the first slot graphic card) and it can run 3-way crossfire or 2-way crossfire.

the advantage here is the regional warranty so I wont have to send the motherboard back and forth to and from USA.
and the disadvantage is selling the rampage iv extreme won`t be of an easy jop since very few people know this High end piece of hardware and it won`t sell for good price or it won`t sell at all.

thank you all for taking the time to read this.
waiting for your advices and opinions.

I can understand that the RIVE may be an overkill for some people... - including myself...

But what are those minor issues you're talking about? The broken clip should not bother you, that has nothing to do with the functionality... can you find the fixes for the other issues here on the Forum? I mean, the RIVE is the top of the mobos... if you spend enough time with it, I believe, can be very rewarding...

If you really want to change, I think the Sabertooth X79 is a good choice though... 🙂

minor issues are 100% PCH fan speed ( fixable and in progress), fanxpert not launching ( fixable but have to apply fix if I clean the registry and I don`t think its hardware related), in terms of functionality, its completely functional, but I am pretty OCD about these kind of stuff sometimes 🙂 , I seriously dig the sabertooth x79 but the RIVE still looks way better imo, am kinda looking for an assurance here, I mean if the PCH fan issue is fixed I don`t think I would even consider writing this thread, another thing I am hesitant about is the fact that recently I have purchased a g53sx which is great, so I got the feeling of having two ROG setups for portability when traveling light gaming and heavy gaming when am home , sacrificing the ROG RIVE will ruin this feeling for me since the sabertooth is not ROG 🙂 , am kinda weird I know! but its really confusing sometimes.

So totally understand where you are coming from and I agree the RIVE board is one of the most visually pleasing boards you can have.

I think you have answered your own question. Keep the RIVE. Spend the time learning and resolving and you will be rewarded time and time again with a great system.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

🙂 thanks for the reassurance, am glad you understand my madness, I have been giving some deep thought into this and I figured that if I wanted to sell the RIVE, no one would appreciate it locally and I will have to sell it at a very low price, cuz I doubt anyone in my city or even country runs more than one video card. not to mention I will get the feeling of ( You never know the value of what you have until you lose it ), so it doesn`t seem like a very wise decision.
