Asus Strix 980ti 2 way sli - fan profile not working :(

I just purchased 2 Asus Strix 980ti graphics cards to go in SLI. I am useing the included soft 2way SLI bridge that comes with the motherboard.

Now I have fresh drivers installed and SLI is enabled via the nvidia control panel.

I am using GPU Tweak 2 v1.0.6.9

Now I can use the gaming mode and the OC mode just fin, they both OC great. But what happens now is the the Primary card (top) all of a sudden stops responding to the fan setting and the fans wont turn on, so the bottom card is at a nice 45 but the top card shoots to 90 and the fans are not turning on.

Now I tried swapping the cards around and again the same thing happens to the primary card in the top slot, the fans are not able
to controlled, even unlinked I can't get the top card to respond to fan settings. So I do not know what to do or how to fix.

As you can see below, on the right window the fans not even spinning. and the temps on the left show top card 61 and bottom just 38.

Just tested the witcher III and have the sli saturation (green bar) turned on from the nvidia control panel, and just noticed as the game is running and the SLI meter shows the 2 cards being saturated that there is a distinctive electrical buzzing sound, but stops when you bring up menues etc. could this be the sli bridge?

please help

Could it just be a cooling issue? but then if it boosts to 1455 then it should be able to be dialed in as a preset right?

No I don't think it's a cooling issue.

You should be able to save your overclock in the gpu tweak oc profiles.
