Hi i have a question about this board concerning the sata6, it's suppose to have 4sata6, 4sata3.
The problem im having is im using Sata6_1/Sata6_2 with 2 240gb ssd's in raid0.
When i connect my 3rd SSD for use, it is connected to the Sata6G_E1 connection with a slow speed, so i checked the bios and it shows it connected to sata3 connection not a Sata6.
Is there something im missing in the bios? im using a sata6 cable.

No, your board is supposed to and has only 2 SATA 3/6Gb ports and 4 SATA 2/3Gb ports. SATA6G_E1 is provided by an ASMedia chip and is an eSATA port

i have 8 ports, i dont see where you got (2) 3/6gb (4) 2/3gb.
Sorry im lost, So i cant use E1 as 6gb?

Intel® X79 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), black
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
ASMedia® PCIe SATA controller :
2 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

Totaling 8 ports.

It really looks like 10 ports in this Specifications list, but on my board i see 8. this is 2011 socket if makes a difference.

This is where I got 6 ports from

ASMedia® PCIe SATA controller :
2 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

These ports here are meant for Data HDD's or Optical Drives and not recommended for using SSD's

Ok now i get it, thanks! sorry im a noob, wow im disappointed in this board then. What a waste of money for me.
Im actually planning on doing 4way raid0 with 6gb connections but cant. I have a question concerning the3gb connections that i have, i have 4 so should i connect that 1 ssd thats alone to the 3gb connection? It would be better than the asmedia connections since they arent meant for ssds, right?

asmedia ports = HDD and optical drives ( CD/DVD/BD-rom players/burners ( and software raid ) )
intel = SSD and HDD ( non software raid )
Sata6 = SSD
Sata3 = SSD and HDD

to raid in ASmedia it have to be done inside windows witch you dont have to whit non Asmedia ports. ( intel ports ).
in bios you can set up to raid 2 SSD's for example om port 1 and 2 on sata6.
but to do so on asmedia ports its have to be done inside windows whit a software got get it to work.

question how can i raid0 in asmedia when installing a new windows? im used to it being done in bios during initial start up. for asmedia wouldnt i have to be in windows already?
