Asus MAXIMUS VI FORUMULA question

Hi, I have a couple questions regarding the ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORUMULA, and cpu cooling. I would like to know if a CoolerMaster v8 CPU cooler will fit on this board, or if the backplate is in the way.

Also, I realize this is an ASUS board, but I was hoping someone here could also answer these questions as well..
1. I've read that 1155 socket CPU coolers have the same alignment as the newer 1150, can anyone confirm this?
2. Given that the v8 cooler will actually fit in this board, will CORSAIR Vengeance Pro (2x4GB) be able to fit under the cooler?
3. I actually can't seem to find the Cooler Master v8 on any online retail stores... Was it discontinued for some reason? (I realize it is from around 2008 :p) If it is no longer made, I'll try scouting around Ebay for one. I really like the aesthetics of the cooler.

Thanks guys.

Sweet! And according to that article the GTX 780 6GB will only be around 50$ more. Thanks for posting that, Wolverine.

yea the way i purchased was the same, i have a list just as your but instead of getting it all at once since i was short on funds i only got
Motherboard
Case
CPU
PSU
Ram
i used an old 1TB original sata drive i had, its literally one of the loudest things in the pc lol
and i used and old asus bst12 bluray drive i had
i would have used older ram as well but i only had 1 stick of 240 pin laying around and it wasent enough for OS install lol so while i was at the store i saw 4gb for $40 so i bought it as well lol, not very good ram but would work and enough to install OS
and my little brother just got a gtx 660 so he gave me his old gtx 560 ti crap card he had, altho im planning on going bigger

just the base components there even tho i didnt have to buy the HDD or Optical or GPU cam to about $1,000

then as i said i just yesterday got my swiftech H320 and GC-Extreme thermal paste that brings it to almost $1,200

then i still need my ram, SSD, HDD and GPU, gpu im planning to save till last, as even tho this particular 560ti is total crap it atleast works so im hoping by time i buy mine the prices will have dropped, there currently rumors that AMD prices will begin dropping soon but who knows lol, plus im hoping Maxwell has a more powerful series out by then as well

SSD im going samsung Evo
HDD im going WD black series
Ram im going Gskill altho i still havent decided on the [articular kit
GPU i plan on atleast a GTX770 maybe 2, but as i said since im waiting im hoping to maybe go 780 or even a maxwell if they have a more powerful line out by then

after all is said and done ill probly treat it to the newer asus 16 bluray drive lol, wait till the end for that cause i have alful luck moving optical drives from one pc to another lol, ill be so gentle, using the kids gloves if ya will but the drive will become soo loud after moving it im always like it sounds like i threw it down some stairs lol

Hey, been a while since I've got on here. I'm still trying to save up - only have 400$ atm though 😕 lol. I think I am going to bump the i5 up for an i7 4770k, and buy it with the mobo, memory, ssd, case, psu, and optical drive. I'll run on stock cooling for a while, then grab the h100i. The GPU will be one of the last things I buy.. I really hope they do go down in price by then, but I've noticed it went up 15$ since last time I checked..
I'm also looking into a Benq 144hz monitor, which is only $100-150 short of a 780, but dam, it looks good.. lol. I could also use a new keyboard, mouse, etc, but none of that is super needed right now.
About 600$ more and I can finally have this build started 😛

GPU prices will drop for Nvidia any way, they just showed what maxwell can do with there 750 cards, supposedly theres a 800 series coming, the new titan card was just announced or came out and they also announced a new Volta architecture and Pascal altho some of thats not supposed to be out till 2016

so in the coming months when some newer stuff starts rolling out this stuff will start going down

Yeah, and then the new cards will again be replaced soon after, with even faster, more efficient, and of course more expensive cards. Technology is a bitch sometimes, haha.
A 780 should do me just fine though I would think... It will already be a 7000% increase in my current GPU that I've had for years, 😛

yea as long as your not trying to push like 4k on multi monitors at 120 or 144Hz

780/780ti will do you fine, and should also be able to handle resolutions all the way up to 4k in games that support it and if you decide to go that route eventually, altho in not sure what the refresh would be on a single card, atleast 60Hz maybe higher with a display port cable but i havent looked into the spes on them closely yet

i myself am probly going to wait till prices lower and get one as well, my original plan was 770 then maybe another down the road if i needed it but i think id like it better and i think it be smarter if i wait for the drop grab a 780ti and then possibly pair it with the upcoming ROG swift g-sync monitor for now, i dont plan on trying to jump to the 4k boat till later when those prices drop
