Adding Internal USB 2.0 Headers?

I am about to build my new 4790k/M7F system. I have 4 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 ports on the front of my Obsidian 900D. I connect 25 USB 2.0 devices thru 4 USB Hubs to the front of my case when I fly; disconnected when not flying. The USB 3.0 ports will not work correctly with my devices. I will have to give up the 2 USB 2.0 headers on the MB for the ROG Front Base Dual Bay device I am adding. These were the headers I have normally used to connect the front 4 ports.

I have seen some PCIe adapters that give internal and external ports but not 2 additional internal headers.

So, my question; is it possible to replace the 2 internal USB 2.0 headers for use with the Case's front 4 ports? If so, how?

Thanks

Totally different problem from what he describes Nate. I don't see any "power" problem, connectivity is my issue.

Thanks

I posted that because he says he has it connected to the ROG_EXT header and nothing else. It looks like you don't need a usb port to power it.

Just an update Nate, and anyone else lurking.

Once I actually started my new build I saw something different than what I had drawn up in my head. The USB headers were kind of separated. That is, one was a normal USB header that had a sort of shroud around it like they normally do. The other was not shrouded and a 18 or 20 pin connector could go over it and the pins next to it (the ROG _EXT Connector). That was the part that threw me reading the documentation. I had originally though that the ROG_EXT used both USB headers.

I did use that ROG_EXT header to hook up the Front Bay panel and got one of the NZXT boards to split the other USB header. All 4 of my front case USB 2.0 ports are alive thru the NZXT board but I haven't gotten to test my flight gear yet. Probably next week for that. If the NZXT created new headers I should be okay, if it is simply a hub I could be in trouble.

Fingers crossed;)

Thanks for the help, us old codgers are a little slow on the draw at times. ( my wife says fixated, overly opinionated, closed minded and stubborn on my better days)

Well that's great you got it figured out (which the smart ones usually do).

Yeah let me know how it goes, I got my fingers crossed it works too.
