8700K delid 2 cores higher temp

hi

since 1 year i delided my 8700k and looks stable at 5ghz but i prefer to stay at 4.9ghz with 1.30vcore.
made some stress tests with intel burn test with Stress level Max and 2 cores are always higher ( almost 10 -11c higher)
is this normal ? or i have to re-delid and re-apply LM to Die and Ihs, or maybe an issue with thermal paste ( Kryonaut)
I have Asus Rog Formula X motherboard and Corsair H150i water-cooling
thanks
Seth

Hi Seth,

since LM is in play nobody will assure you in a way so that you will not have to look for yourself.

After a year i would have a look anyway and polish the surfaces.

Btw: ... is this an early 2018 8700k that you then delidded in 2019?
The newer ones can clock higher with far less heat than you post.

I had a 8700k with the same stepping the 8086k had.
The 8700k ran 5.1 @1.325 manual vcore on air with 0 avx /LLC5
The 8086k ran 5.1 @1.315 manual vcore on air with 0 avx /LLC5
I saw low 80s temps if i hammerd the cpu with AVX loads.

LLC6 lets you lower vcore about 0.03 - In the end is always produced more heat for the same result.

And that is on air with no delid in a proper case in a cool country.

ps 8700k and 8086k are dirt cheap atm. So much so that nobody will touch a delidded one.

Hi Carlyle
thanks for your info/help, just re-delided and looks really good so far. Possibly LM or thermal paste wasn't placed correctly.
Now i am at 5ghz with 1.35vore max temp 68c ( intel burn test at very high). I will try to recude or vcore as it looks really stable.
and the worst part is that i had 1 year a faulty delid...anyway all good now.

best
Seth
