7970 / R9 280X LN2 MOS Heatsink - Effect and Warranty...

Im curious as to whether people have fitted the supplied heatsink, if so, did it bring the temperature of the VRM (?) down effectively/at all?

Then, would fitting this then affect the warranty on the card, even though its been supplied by the manufacturer... A few hours gaming will have my VRM1 at about 65C, VRM2 stays at 27C. VRM1 will eventually stay at a higher temp than the GPU... and we're not in Summer yet...

Cheers

use only a gpu core block, not fullcover, if using a full cover condensation can build up between the block and the PCB, depending for how long time you are benchmarking..

Fullcover is for looks only, not performance, and really clumsy for use in benchmarking

fullcover = block is very chilled and the vrm,s heat up the PCB = dead GPU

use a fan that blows directly at the gpu core block when running subzero..

Do you wear a jacket and a woolen cap when running the polar-pipe chill method? ^^

Hmmm... Maybe jaket and wooled socs... Yeah direct pipe from outside to gpu fans 😄 then will see what happends.

When you ass starts to go numb, you know you got a good score.. 😉

Think i had -20c to 25c in my place many times (indoor temp), its not fun to go to sleep afterwards..

But what dont we do for 10mhz xtra..

Not worth it, today add a waterblock, and your up 400mhz xtra, and still warm inside the room..
