They are stupidly hard to get over here it seems!!

Would you guys recommend these parts? The GPU waterblocks are a must, and i need 2, but thoughts on the mobo cooler?

Would the EK-FC 7970 DCii block work? Thought this was almost identical to the 7970 Matrix Platinum?

Nope, the Matrix Platinums needs their specific blocks... EK does have them, they're just running under the R9 280X Matrix name... - you can get those with confidence, they will fit: http://www.ekwb.com/shop/blocks/vga-blocks/ati-radeon-full-cover-blocks/radeon-rx-200-series/ek-fc79...

There is an another, small company in Germany who makes waterblocks for Matrix cards - Liquid Extasy:

I've tried all of them, EK is the gold standard but you may get along with the LE too... in both cases do your leak testing even before you would mount the blocks!!!

Ordered 2 from frozencpu, I hope they work ok in gpu tweak etc, never watercooled my gpus before

Watercooling and GPU Tweak has nothing to do with each other... at least not at the basic functionality level...

To save yourself a lot of headaches, I strongly recommend to try your Matrix cards with their factory cooler first - if they don't work with GPU-Z in that way, then is highly unlikely that they will work with waterblocks...

Waterblocks have only one advantage in functionality - they may extend the OC limits... just "may" and not "will"!!! A good cooling is more than just about the waterblocks...

They work perfectly, have done for months

Running these in crossfire they run very hot, I want them watercooled to drop the temps a little, and include them in my loop, attached to a 480 rad just for these 😉

If they're working with the air-cooler, then sure they will work with the water blocks too! :cool:

True, just you know they work when the fans spin, there's no way of knowing with water unless you go into gpu tweak 🙂
