4790K Golden Chip 4.8 GHZ @ 1.3V

So far so good! I always seem to get lucky when it comes to getting a good chip. My last processor AMD 8350 went 5.2 GHZ @ 1.5V.

Currently my 4790K idles at 27-29C and never goes above 42 under max load.

Stay tuned for more!

BigSteve great news. I am having the same luck here. I have fought my 4770k for 2 months to get it to 4.5 stable @ 1.34v. I couldn't take it anymore so I went ahead and bought the 4790k. I am currently running 4.8 @ 1.268 with a cache of 4.5 @ 1.25. I want that 1:1 ratio. I am stable I think. 8 hours of IXT, 2 hour stress on Realbench and 10 runs on IBT ( took about an 1 1/2 hours). I did delid my 4790k and use some Liquid Ultra. My temps @ idle are 28-30C and 100% load for 8 hours on IXT were 59C. Intel Burn Test is the only stress test so far that has put my temps above 61C. It got up to 74C. Fine with me because I don't think there is anything that pushes the CPU harder. I will post results soon but am really working on the 1:1 ratio. I also booted into windows at 4.9 @1.268 and 5.0 @ 1.28. Unbelievable for me. Although these were not stable and 4.8 is comfortable. I am not lucky with CPU's. This will be the first of 4 or 5 that actually clocks well.

Hi BIgSteve

You got a good cpu for sure. I'm tuned in and ready to watch this show.

Here is the bench I said I would post. I almost have a 48 core 47 cache stable....well see 🙂41346

If I were you I would install a different version of cpu-z. I'm sure that 1.776v for your cpu voltage is not correct.

Other than that everything looks great, your cpu temps are super good.

Thanks Nate....You were right about that. I didn't even notice.41347

This is my third time with this post. This first decent chip Ive had in a couple of years. I mean one that will clock. I never seem to get any luck with them. When I found out this one would, I delidded and through some liquid ultra on. My temps are awesome. IBT runs it up to 72/74/74/72. IBT is the hardest on CPU software out there I believe. After running 8 hour stress test with Prime, IXT, Aida64 none of them got any of the cores above 61C. Ill take that all day long. I am really shooting for a 1:1 ratio and what I am currently working on. Last chip 4770k could only do 4.5 core @1.34 and 4.3 cache @ 1.29. I booted with this 4790k at 4.9 and 5.0 under 1.30v just not stable. Seems like 4.8 is sweet spot. Just want that 1:1 ratio.

That is awesome, I would say you have a golden chip like BigSteve.

There are different versions of ROG cpu-z here is mine. The version is listed at the very bottom of cpu-z.

Ah you delidded that explains those awesome temps.

I know once I get to a certain point tweaking gets very in depth, so what settings should I start with?
